DPAC Consumer Warning!

 Dear Friend of DPAC,

Last month we announced the SunTrust Broadway 2012 /2013 Season at DPAC, and already fraudulent online brokers are advertising seats they do not have. Tickets obtained from sources other than DPAC or Ticketmaster (our only official ticketing providers) may be lost, stolen, or counterfeit and will not be honored. Know who you are buying from when you buy from a ticket broker. Please consider the following, and share it with friends and family so they are not duped:

DPAC offers several options to purchase tickets including in-person sales at our Ticket Center with no service charges. We also offer buyers the option to purchase online or over the phone (where service charges are added that range from about $5 to $15).
Fraudulent sites promise seat locations even though we have not printed tickets. It is impossible for anyone to be legitimately reselling tickets for the shows we've just announced or just placed on sale.
Fraudulent sites often advertise balcony seats for as much as $150 each, where as these same seats are available from us for less than $50.
These fraudulent sites use DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center, or Ticket Center names in their web addresses to look official. They use photos of our venues to deceive you into believing they are affiliated with us. We do not cooperate with any broker or outside agency.
Once a ticket is sold, DPAC (and most other popular sports or entertainment facilities, for that matter) have little control on whether a buyer then chooses to try and resell the ticket. DPAC never knowingly sells blocks of tickets to unauthorized ticket brokers or secondary sales websites, and takes many measures to ensure that this does not happen.
We cannot vouch for the authenticity of the tickets that are posted online for resale, but many believe that the majority of these websites list tickets they simply do not have. Once lured in, unsuspecting buyers are charged highly inflated prices and the website seller then goes out and finds the seats they have a buyer on the hook for. It's not unusual that duped buyers then receive tickets in far different locations than what was advertised.
Be sure to buy your tickets only from authorized DPAC outlets:

1.  Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets
2.  Great seats are just a click away at DPACnc.com
3.  Order-by-phone by calling 919.680.2787
4.  At the DPAC Ticket Center; 123 Vivian Street, Durham NC 27701

You risk buying overpriced or fraudulent tickets by purchasing anywhere else.

For more information on purchasing tickets directly through DPAC, please visit our website: http://www.dpacnc.com/events/how_to_buy_tickets.

Our goal is always for real fans like yourself to be able to easily purchase tickets. It's frustrating to us when we see our fans taken advantage of. Unfortunately, the law provides us with few options to protect our fans. This is truly a situation of BUYER BEWARE.

If you have any questions, please call us at 919.680.2787 or email us at customerservice@dpacnc.com. Our customer service staff will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

Bob Klaus
General Manager

PASS IT ON: DPACnc.com and Ticketmaster.com are the OFFICIAL TICKETING PROVIDERS for Durham Performing Arts Center. Tickets purchased from other sources may be 1) more expensive, 2) invalid and 3) ineligible for assistance. DPAC is not responsible for tickets purchased from other sources.
