Music Lecture: "What were the odds?: Reexamining Early (and not-so-Early) Music with statistical models"
Lecture is presented by Michael Cuthbert (MIT). He has worked extensively on music of the 14th century, computational musicology, and minimalism. His article, "Tipping the Iceberg: Missing Italian Polyphony from the Age of Schism," used computer simulations to contradict the unquestioned assumption that most written medieval music has been lost.

Katrina Wreede, composer and violist, has been a symphony musician, jazz violist, a member of the ground-breaking Turtle Island String Quartet, and a concert soloist. "Fragments From Another Life" Photography Exhibit
Rhonda Klevansky, a South African photographer, writer and documentary filmmaker, illustrates the plight of political asylum seekers. Klevansky’s portraits, taken between 2000 and 2002, feature refugees holding personal items from their home countries, such as vases, books of poetry and music boxes to traditional clothing. The photographs include handwritten annotations detailing the subject’s personal connection to the items. FREE and open to the public.
